As a fiber artist, I create unique works-of-art for dancers and for everyday wear. Each of my silk pieces are hand-painted - not hand-dyed, not tye-dyed nor machine printed. This makes each veil a one-of-a-kind original. All silks are steamed to set the dye and bring out the brilliance of the color. This makes them shimmer in sunlight and under stage lights!
There is nothing an artist loves more than a blank canvas ~ and silk is my canvas! Silk is a special medium. You are never sure what you'll get - it all depends on the dye, the silk, the weather, and if the stars are properly aligned (ha! ha!). The majority of my designs employ the resist technique. It gives me the freedom to create a unique item, whether it is an abstract design or a "controlled" design. Additionally, I paint silk using other techniques. Fusion is a gradient design that flows from one color to another, sometimes with a smooth transition and sometimes with a bold transition. Faux is a marble-like design that is very similar to the Venetian plaster look. Watercolor is a muted design that looks like the name implies, a "watery" blending of colors.
